Promise of Spring

As a gentle Spring breeze dances across Blacklick Pond, it coaxes the promise of new life from the branches of the Weeping Willow. "The Promise of Spring" represents the reawakening of earthly life after winter and the remembrance of life that has ceased to exist in our world (the ghost branches) but is revived after death in the life beyond.

Copyright 2005 Vikki Pignatelli. This quilt is made without a pattern and is improvisational curved appliqué. Most leaves and the flowers are three-dimensional and hang away from the surface. There are ghost branches free-motion stitched in the quilt. There is some beading/embroidery in the water circles and flower centers.
